The Adventure Before the Adventure

When I think about my trip to the Enchantments in Leavenworth Washington, one of the first things that come to mind is the drive to the trailhead. The rough road was more challenging than the hike itself. The road was narrow along side a cliff with steep elevation and loose gravel. The challenging part was navigating cars coming down and cars getting stuck on the way up, while having to keep moderate speed to keep momentum on the steep and slippery terrain. By the time I started hiking, I had felt a sense of relief as the hike would feel like a breeze compared to the drive. Sometimes the most memorable adventures begin before the hike even starts.
